Music is one of the more important areas of service to a parish's liturgical life.
St. Paul advised the Colossians to "let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, as in all wisdom you teach and admonish one another, singing psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs with gratitude in your hearts to God."
This is the calling of every member of the worshiping assembly. It is the unique calling of music ministers to teach, encourage, inspire, and lead them by example.
There are many opportunities for people of all ages to share their musical talents with our faith community. Information on our different music ministries can be found under the tabs below. Music ministers from every parish are invited to participate in the choirs at other locations.
Christ the King
The adult choir is for people ages 18 and older who would like to sing at the 4:00pm Mass. Choir practice is held on Saturday afternoons at 2:00pm. Additional rehearsals may be scheduled during Advent and Lent. Talk with Mark Jachim, Music Director, before or after Mass if you are interested in joining.
Epiphany Parish
Our parish is truly blessed with such a vast amount of talent! All are welcome to attend Choir rehearsal at Epiphany Parish every Thursday at 7:00pm. We sing at all of the Weekend Masses and Holy Days throughout the year!
Throughout the year and especially during the Faith Formation sessions, we invite all of our young people to join us in singing and using their instrumental gifts.
All of our youth bring special joy to our seasonal celebrations. Christmas Eve at our 4pm Liturgy brings special excitement as youth from primary grades through high school show their dedication and gifts in singing and special use of instruments. Highlighting our beautiful Christmas singing this year were the glockenspiel, string bass, and tambourine.
As spring approaches we look forward to the Youth of our parish joining in the joyful Alleluias of our Easter Sunday celebration and Sacramental Liturgies.
Vacation Bible School during the summer months also brings joy and prayerful moments to the youth of all ages who participate and who learn music that accentuates the important lessons learned during their class gatherings.
Pope John XXIII
The adult choir is for people ages 19 and older who would like to sing at the 5:30pm Mass. Choir practice is held on Tuesdays at 6:30pm. Additional rehearsals are scheduled during Advent and Lent. Talk with Chris Kennedy before Mass if you are interested in joining.
Epiphany Parish
During the Faith Formation year, we invite all of our young people to join us at the 9:30am Mass and join us in singing the hymn for the Preparation of the Gifts. The children learn new songs through this avenue and love joining in the participation of the singing.
The children who form the core of this choir also participate in our 4:00pm Christmas Eve liturgy in which the birth of Jesus is highlighted during our Christmas pageant. The children also join in the joyful alleluias of our Easter Sunday celebration at the 9:30am Mass.
The Children’s Choir is open to all elementary age students of the parish. The choir sings during the Children’s Liturgy at the 11:00am Mass during the school year beginning with Faith Formation classes in September and ending in June. The choir rehearses in the school gym every Sunday before the Children’s Liturgy. They also join the adult choir on Holy Days, Christmas, Easter, and other Sundays throughout the year at the 11:00am Liturgy.
Pope John XXIII
Students (grades 4 through high school) share their musical talents by singing and/or playing an instrument (guitar, bass, flute, violin, cello, clarinet, trumpet) along with the choir at the 10:30am Mass. Students playing an instrument should have a minimum of 3 years of music lessons prior to joining the choir.
Practices are held on Sunday mornings from 9:00am - 10:00am prior to the 10:30am Mass, twice per month. Additional rehearsals are scheduled during Advent and Lent.
If your child is interested in joining, please speak with Chris Kennedy before Mass.
Christ the King
Adult choir members from Christ the King and Pope John XXIII are invited to sing at Funeral Liturgies at Christ the King. Choir members will need to be available during the week and Saturday mornings for Funeral Liturgies.
Epiphany Parish
Our Resurrection Choir is composed of some of our Adult Choir members and any other interested parishioners who wish to share their gift in this ministry. Our Resurrection choir does our church a tremendous service and sings at Funeral Masses when they are available. This is so helpful to families as they are supported in their loss by the comforting sounds of this choir singing consoling music.
The Resurrection Choir of Epiphany Parish at St. Joseph the Worker is made up of members of our regular choir as well as other parishioners who share their talent in this ministry. This special group of people ministers, through music, to the members of our church family during times when they are experiencing great loss and sorrow in their lives. The choir sings at all Funeral and Memorial Liturgies held at our church. Anyone who would like to share in this important ministry of our music program is invited to participate.
