Becoming the New Human Person: Christ's Gift of Freedom

The ministry of Jesus is a ministry of freedom. So often we see him 'setting people free.' Those who follow him know that we connot become the person He desires us to be without being free to cooperate with His grace. We long to be free of anything that impedes that response. Often we recognize a lack of freedom in our fears, our negative thinking, and our embedded patterns of behavior. We long to be free in order to grow, mature, and become the graced and happy person God desires us to be.

The series of lectures will explore the foundations of our call to freedom and challenge us to cooperate with that grace.

About Father Simeon Gallagher, OFMCap

Father Simeon Gallagher is a member of the Mid-America Province of the Capuchin Order. He was ordained a priest in 1971, and his ministerial background is diverse. He was Campus Minister at Fort Hays State University in Hays, KS, from 1972-28 and held faculty positions at both Marian High School in Hays and Marymount College in Salina, KS. He was Chairman of the Religious Education Board for the Salina Diocese.

Father Gallagher is the Director of the Preaching Ministry Office of the Mid-America Province of the Capuchin Order. He conducts retreats, parish development programs, parish missions, and religious education workshops. His association with the Emmaus Spirituality Program for Priests has gained him an international reputation in conducting retreats for priests. For the past several years, he has worked closely with the US Armed Forces at various military bases around the world.

Father Gallagher holds advanced degrees in Religious Education, Ascetical Theology, and 19th Century British Literature. His literature degree has earned him a reputation as a scholar in the works of John Henry Cardinal Newman. He is also a graduate of the Great Books Program at St. John's College.
